Wedding Day Timeline Guide

We’ve created this guide to help you plan a smooth, stress-free wedding day. Following a well-structured timeline ensures that every special moment—whether it’s intimate, traditional, or grand—is beautifully captured.

Simply adjust the sample times to match your own day, and you’ll have a clear picture of how everything will flow.

How to Start:

  1. Confirm your key events: Ceremony start time, ceremony duration, cocktail hour or post-ceremony gathering, and whether you’ll have a First Look.
  2. Plan backward from the ceremony: This ensures your morning preparations stay on track.
  3. Plan forward into the evening: Include all reception events, dinner, and dancing.

Suggested Timing for Each Part of the Day:

(Times are flexible based on your wedding style and traditions.)

Getting Ready + Details: ~1–1.5 hours

  • Bridesmaids / family getting dressed: 10–20 minutes (included in getting ready)
  • Bride / groom preparation: 30–45 minutes

First Look + Portraits: 45–60 minutes

  • Can include traditional rituals, modern portraits, or pre-ceremony moments

Bridal Party / Family Photos: 30–45 minutes

  • Approx. 10 minutes per group; can be combined with cultural ceremony photos

All Photos End: ~30 minutes before the ceremony starts

Ceremony: ~30-45 minutes (Western) / 60–90 minutes (South Asian / Indian)

  • Adjust for rituals, multiple outfits, or customs like Baraat or Nikah

Cocktail Hour / Post-Ceremony Gathering: 1 hour

  • Ideal time for family photos if not done earlier

Reception / Celebration: 3–5 hours

  • Includes dinner, speeches, dancing, and traditional entertainment or rituals

Photographers Leave: Based on your hours of coverage & start time

Tips for Customising Your Timeline:

  • South Asian or Indian weddings: Include mehndi, haldi, baraat, or multiple outfit changes. You may need extra time for pre-ceremony rituals and portraits.
  • Western weddings: The timeline is often straightforward with First Look options, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.
  • Mixing traditions: Start with ceremonial customs first, then incorporate Western-style portraits and celebrations.

Once you fill in your personal times, you’ll have a customised roadmap that keeps your day flowing smoothly while allowing us to capture every meaningful moment—without stress or rushing.
